THE 21 LAWS OF SELF-DEFENSE: PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

21 LAWS - #1 - Personal Development - Self Defence Techniques

With this article starts the detailing of the 21 Laws of Self-Defense.

The first principle is the Mindset; it must go from the inside, your inside, towards the outside.
An alignment among our true selves, our beliefs, and our personal values.

All things have a beginning, a middle part, and an ending.

The beginning, the first thing you have to start with is the Mindset. It means that “Who you Are” is essential to be in line with that particular part you want to develop; it means trusting yourself, and it’s a foundation you can build on.

Those who are interested in going to the dojo, any kind of dojo, want primarily to gain faith in themselves, to develop, to gain new useful abilities, especially in life and death situations.

In reality, from day one, most of them will get some gloves, some kickboxing gloves, and maybe they will learn their first kata.

This is not the first step, it’s not the beginning. It’s just like starting to learn the alphabet at random.

You have to start from “Who are you? - "The Man in the Mirror".

I'm starting with the man in the mirror
I'm asking him to change his ways
And no message could have been any clearer
If you want to make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself, and then make a change.

Having clarified the Mindset / the Identity, I can build faster and in line with my own values.

If you consider Dilts' Pyramid, changes made at a higher level (such as Identity) will impact all lower levels of the pyramid (Values, Abilities, Behaviour, Environment).

Master Vasile Niță has a saying:”you can practice martial arts for 20 years, but if in the streets you don’t have the (mental) strength, the confidence for act, you’ll achieve nothing with your martial arts training.

This doesn’t mean that the years spent in the dojo are completely wasted; wasted are the years in which you do nothing for yourself, your family, your health, and your financial situation.

Beware of overconfidence, especially when you assume you can handle any situation based solely on your gym performance, in a controlled and sterile setting with a cooperative training partner.

If your mind ain't right and your head is not right, forget about your training; you're never going to train right, and you're never going to do anything right.

I put this together, guys, because in everything, there's a beginning, there's a middle, and there's an end.

The number one thing, number one thing that every instructor and every person who ever stepped into any boxing or Jujitsu school, wrestling school, Judo school, Aikido, or any martial arts school whatsoever went in there for a reason.
They went in there because they were one type of person, and, hopefully, when they get through with the training, they come out another type of person, and what is that called personal development. That's the number one thing of the 21 laws of self-defense.

ersonal development matters. You got to build yourself from the inside out.

Remember, good enough isn't good enough if it can be better. Do not wish it was easier wish you a better trained, to get better. Train to get better, guys.
The way you do things, the way you think, the way you feel, the way you put the energy in.
If You Will Change, Everything Will Change for you
. If you get better, everything will get better for you. There is a quote from Jim Rohn "Don't wish it was easier, wish you were better. Don't wish for less problems wish for more skills"

21 LAWS - #2 - Personal Development, Go All In - Self Defence Techniques

Organically, the second principle is tied to the first one, and it means that once you’ve chosen this road of personal development through martial arts, you should be 100% All In.

It’s not only about mechanically applying some self-defense techniques; you must have the proper mindset and the strength to go all the way with it in everything you do.

There is no such thing as effortless self-defense and success without failure.

Do you have what it takes to go all in, to keep yourself safe, out in the streets?

Do you have what it takes to go all in, to make sure that your family is safe and that somebody doesn't attack them, and you just let it happen?
Guys, if you are not willing to go all in, don't even get started because you know what works; there's no such thing as effortless self-defense, and there's no such thing as success without failure.

You have to fail your way to success, so if your feelings get hurt the second you don't do something well or you don't look good, that's where most will quit.

Because everybody wants to look fly, everybody wants to look good, everybody wants to look cool, and everybody wants to be the man.
You gotta suck before you don't suck anymore.
